Today the highway department decided it was time to paint the double yellow lines. The cones were placed and the paint applied with total disregard to the weather:eek:

Water based paint and rain do not mix. There is paint EVERYWHERE!!! In the streams, the river, on cars, trucks and even some on the road.

The double yellow lines spread out to about six feet wide.

The paint will NOT dry in the rain........ but I was assured it was environmentally friendly:rolleyes: These pictures are 4 hours after the paint was applied and the 3rd one is the sand dam the highway people made to "filter" the run off.

The Environmental Agency people were here, WCAX news was here and EVERY car that went by got paint on it....... FIVE miles of road.

OMG if I had gotten that paint in the streams and rivers .....I could only imagine the fines I would be tagged with

The highway department sanded over the lines to absorb the run off.....a little too late and wow what a mess. I would guess hundreds of cars are yellow stained....... Seriously I think someones head should roll over this one. Wasted paint (enough for 5 miles of road), the salary of the Agency of Nat Resc, the road crews hourly rate, equipment used, and the anticipated claims for paint damage to vehicles..... allot of money "washed" away by the rain....... because someone (or multiple people) did not exercise common sense and check the weather :(

Wonder what the mess will look like when it finally dries.

Confused by first photo.

Appears to be yellow stripes on the shoulder of the road. That would be a fog line, and they are supposed to be white, not yellow.

Saw that happen years back, the operator was drunk, some lanes were really narrow, the other side wide. He went around 3 miles before getting fired. And responsible for the cleanup/repairs. Lol

I thank if you look close it is white. The run off is making it yellow.

Almost a good argument for sourcing the entire project out to a competent company. Our tax dollars being wasted is very aggravating, and having it thrown in your face, or car, is almost too much.

How are they going to save face on this one? Agree with your comment, Bob, about what would have happened if you had done it!
