I've asked this question twice on the fishing forum and have yet to get anyone to answer me so I'm going to try this one in hopes someone can help. I will be in Ocean Isle Beach (N & S Carolina border, just N.E. of S. Carolina) this August. I'm from Michigan and have no idea what to expect. Will be fishing with 9 - 15 year old grandkids. Can we fish from the beach or should I plan on setting up a charter or both? I know it'll be hot. <br /> This is a great forum; could someone please, please give me some advise.<br />Bob

N.C. has great fishing and beaches. It gets real hot in the summer and is very humid 100%. If you are here for any lenght of time. I would recommened You try to get a trip to the outer banks. I go there every year and look at all the Carolina custom Yacht builders. I have some favorite yacht I see every year. Great place to spend the summer.

We don't fish. Yes you can fish on the beach or the pier. With kids of these ages I guess it's more or less an outing just to be with them. There are also a lot of things that the kids can do while you fish, rides amusements ,,things of that nature.Lots of interesting things to enjoy family with. I'm about 45 minutes from ocean isle. My brother-in-law has a 2nd home at Shalotte and he is forever going to ocean isle with his grandkids during the summer for weekends. They have a lot of fun. <br /> <br /><br />" :cool: Nothing could be finer than to live in carolina"

Bob,<br /> I live in wilmington N.C. 25 minutes from ocean island,my name is chris and I fish all year long out of wrightsville beach. You could get some good charters,but I would recommend renting a boat for a couple days and enjoy all the fishing that is available in the area plus the miles of empty beaches you can explore. There there a couple companies that can help you with a boat I would start with SeaMark boats in wilmington.They have nice boats and they will cater to your needs.If you need any help email me.

There are places near the beach where you can access the Intercoastal waterway (Alantic waterway???). This tends to be a little better suited to "kid fishing" in my expearance (limited). The beaches tend to be crowded and some 9 yr olds can be dangerous casting. Pier fishing is ok, although my nieces tend to get bored with that pretty quick. Waterway is a little safer, more controlled, alot less crowded and more fish too.<br /><br />Just my thoughts on it.
