Went with friends yesterday to Bass Pro Shops in Ft. Lauderdale and saw something that shocked, horrified, and dare I say stunned me...

At first I thought it was a joke but upon further inspection I found this was no joke... A Live Bait vending machine... It was just like a vending machine in which you would expect to find soda-pop or candy, however this machine contained live shrimp, minnows, ect. .... Live bait, you say?... YES LIVE, not frozen, but live.... Unbelievable but true...

Anyone else seen on of these?...

Whats next?... Wait, nevermind... I don't want to know...

http://www.agthompson.com/livebait.htm

They have them here in places. $4.00/dozen for crawlers seems a little steep. They do quite a business with the all-night bank-anglers at the dam, tho. Welcome to plowboy country! :D

Yea Snap....I saw one the other day down at the shrimp docks....They had live bait ....but I think that the night crawlers and and some other kind of worms were the only live things in this one....But the last 3 weeks or so have been slow for the shrimpers round here from what I heard.

Seems the shrimp are burried up in the cold weather.

One day we will be able to do lots of stuff from vending machines....I bet before to long well be able to get Pets and Life insurance with a bucket full of change.

Not me!

Dimewood.

Re: Now I've seen it all...

my first thought was: you are not really horrified, are you? everyone of you, who've been here since summer, have already seen the earlier link to the bait-vending-mch....

now i'm waiting to see who is really scared it might hurt their business. no one i hope, since it seems about like a bubblegum mch to me. it seems really great to me, since now the twilight fishermen can get their fill...

if there are really mch's out there with live shrimp, shiners, minnows, then i guess its only in a location that can afford to maintain it every day. i mean, come on, ya think you can get 3 day old minnows from a mch?

oops, i hope the vendors don't really try to get away with some kind of BS like that....

earthworms are fine in a cooled converted drink mch. but if i go out at midnight, and run a fist full of qtrs thru a mch to get some dead, stinky, slimy minnows, they(the mch's & vendors) will deserve whatever they get.

Seen them, used them and even thought about getting a few and running a route. But the expense of startup kept me from it.

They have them near me. There are lots of camp grounds around. They only have worms in them, but prices are along with the boatshops here. I am thinking of building my own worm box instead of paying almost $10 for two dozen crawlers.

No kidding  Bait vending machines
Never heard of such a thing.Cant use live
minnows here. crawlers and leeches are ok.
I catch my own spot tails & stickel backs,
but you have to drown e'm before you can put
them on a hook. I collect them from the cannals
and freeze them for year long use.

yeah, snappr i was kiddin too ;) i've read enough of your comments to not worry about you, but was directing it towards all the other masses.

its one thing to lose power to a coke machine, but just think of having an outage for 1/2 day during summer in FL  :p

a dead fridge full of slimy worm goo! that would be some serious STANK.
