noise new volvo sx drive HELP!

On the new Volvo SX drive with the original prop (no hits on drive or prop!!) there is a slight rubbing noise when you rotate the prop by hand from the area where the outer hub of the prop extends into the gear case. There does not appear to be much clearance between the prop and the gear case. It rubs in 1 or 2 spots per rotation. Is this ok? Is the original prop casting a little deformed in this area? or gear case? Any help before I bring it to the dealer (new boat I never hit the prop on anything everything looks brand new!!)<br /><br />Thanks

My 98 does the exact same thing and has never caused any problems.Makes you wonder why though.

I just checked the SX drive on my new boat (about 2month old. It has one small spot with noise. I don't wanna worry about it at all.<br /><br />Regards<br />Michael

Yep, mine does the same thing. I am not as worried about this as I am the vibration I get at idle.

2001 3.0 SX original prop showed no wear spots. I dinged it and bought a new VP prop to use while the old one was repaired. New prop rubbed in one spot until it "clearanced" itself. Dealer said it was normal, now it certainly apperars as if he was right. The old prop still does not rub.<br /><br />I do have a clearance problem with outdrive to suspension fork. I will compose and post to new topic.<br /><br />Greg
