no water coming out of the pee-hole

hi i know there are some in thesearch forums but please try to help me i need and hope to be fixed by weekend. i have a 85 115 evinrude and i can start it but there is no water coming from the pee-hole. how long can i run it and try to unclog it b4 it will overheat.also what kinda wire can i use to see if its clogged.

are you using the ear muffs and starting it out of the water? If so, you may need to rev it up or turn up the hose to see water this way. If still nothing, I would suggest the old air nozzle or rig up some way to back flash with the hose.

I'm not familiar with that motor, but if you are useing a garden hose, You might want to check and make sure there isn't any other vents that water is suppose to be going into. If there are just plug them temperarily.

I used a roll of solder, works real good to get any dirt out. Also sounds like you may need to install new water pump impeller, I'd check and replace, easy job and cheap - lots cheaper than a new motor. Heinz
