Hey guys. I have a 02 Johnson 150 ocean pro. It has been cutting out what looks like the entire starboard bank once warmed up. Was thinking coil by the way it acted until I seen the plugs and all 3 starboard were oil covered and port side looked normal. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Ryan's

Need a model number. start with spark and compression. tons of posts on here about how to do those. The plugs that look normal may be the ones not firing and may be gas washed. Or the starboard bank could be running rich.

I recommend you test for spark with a timing light. If you find a no-spark condition, the two likely suspects are the SLOW (overheat function) and the shift assist switch. Both kill spark to 1/2 of the motor.

You might disconnect temp sensor wires and see if spark returns. You will need to make sure the motor doesn't overheat in some other fahion, since you disconnected the warning system.

There are a couple of other tests you can do without the DVA check out page 62 in the CDI troubleshooting guide. The link to the guide is in my sig.

Well I couldn't wait on the meter. Had a hunch and a spare pack. Switched it out and now I have spark. Motor ran smooth on muffs after I put it all back together hopefully this fixes the prop. Thanks for the help

Re: no fire starboard bank

Quick question. Do you guys think now that I have my dva adapter. Should I go ahead and test everything or not worry about it since I have my spark back
