I am a first time boat owner and I just purchased a 1980 Glastron with a JOhnson 85hp V4. I took the boat in to get the motor tuned up on 6/19/03 and he ran the engine and said it was running fine. After tuning it up, and running it, on 6/24 he say's that one cylinder had no compression. Do I assume that I need a new power head? I dont want to put alot of money onto this old boat.

thanks

Re: No compression on one cylinder

Why doesn't the one cylinder have any compression? Is there a hole in the piston? Why is there a hole in the piston five days after the mechanic tuned it up?

I'd be asking the mechanic the "why" questions. Sounds like it might be his problem.

g'luck & c/6

Hooty
