As many of you may know, I have been going waterskiing New Year's Day for several years now. The tradition was started by Bald Eagle Water Ski Shows over 30 years ago.

2006 was a great year. Air temp was above freezing (barely), and we had lots of snow for great pictures.

Here's a link to the album I made. You can click on each picture for the full resolution image.

Photo Album

However true, I'm obviously not alone. :p :D

Actually, I wouldn't even consider going without my drysuit. A few folks do it with anything from a wetsuit, to shorts and a life jacket. Those guys are the truly insane!

I'm not impressed. Here in NH we waterski around jagged iceburgs with hungry polar bears on them.

I like to skip orca heads and then jump the bears.

:p

I whole-heartedly second that assessment... :D
There are seasons to water ski and seasons to snow ski.........me thinks you've gotchur seasons mixed up.

I second AK chappy............

Doesn't seem odd to me, since here we have the polar bear club that swims in Lake Michagan every New Years Day.............And that lake is freezing cold to swim in in the middle of August :)

I'd probably be game for that!.... :D

Many moons ago, the gang and I went kneeboarding and barefootin' in high 40* weather (yes, it gets that cold here) with just a barefoot suit.... My buddys Dad was in from China visiting for new years, and being heavy into it, we just had to go show his Pop what it was all about...

Never been so cold in my life....

one of these days, i'm going to get my board back out and see if i still got it... Before I get too old...

I can just envision the "Shrinkage" that comes as a result of this. Gives new meaning to freeze dried nuts too.

We might be crazy up Nort here but we get to walk on water for a couple months a year.

If you ever make it to my part of town, I'll gladly find ya a skylon or tower to hook up to, no matter the time of year!

Do you winterize the inboard as soon as it's pulled out of the water?

Not my boat, actually. But yes, they do re-winterize the block as soon as it's out of the river.

Anybody notice the name on the windshield of the boat? It was "chilly willy". And I bet it was!
