Hi. I didn't see a "new members" area, so I'll start here, since it's the Starcraft forum.
My name is Tom, I'm 42 and I am a "new" boat owner. I am new, the boat certainly is not.
I love old boats. I fell in love with them in 1985 while living in Traverse City Michigan. My Dad had a fully restored 1959 30' Chris Craft cabin cruiser with 2 Hercules flathead 6's. I have great memories of salmon fishing from this old boat. I also remember the old restored wood ski boats in the area. Someday......
Anyway, mine is not an old wooden boat it's an old aluminum fishing boat. It's a 1968, 15' Starcraft Startrek V with a 1962 Evinrude Lark IV motor with electric shift and start. It's equipped with a new stick steer, a new trolling motor and an old, but decent tilt trailer. The boat is in great shape, and while it does have a few minor issues, the motor runs perfect.
My problem is that when I do an Internet search for this boat, all I get is Star Trek movie websites. Now I hate Star Trek, and after sifting through thousands of those sites, I hate it even more.
What I would like to find is ANY information about this boat, literature (especially a printed brochure), websites, anything. I'm not interested in what it's worth, because I don't care. I paid what I paid and that's that. As long as it gets me to where I want to fish, that's what's important.

Re: New boat owner needs help

Can't help you with a 1968 Starcraft Startrek V. I have found Starfire, Stardeck, Star-lots-of-things, but no Startrek. I have a 1969 Starcraft something (no tag, no plate, no book). It is a 14 foot v-hull, aluminum boat. Although I can't help you with the documentation on your boat, I may be able to help you with some of your questions.
I'm in the process of restoring my boat. I've pulled the deck, and am in the process of re-sealing and adding foam, then adding the new deck. So, I've taken it apart and are putting it back together. If there is something I can help you with, just post or e-mail. There are a BUNCH of folks here with these old boats.....and, Welcome to iboats!:D

Re: New boat owner needs help

Hi. Thanks for the reply.
I really don't intend to do anything to it other than move the drivers seat, and maybe paint later. The deck is good, as well as the carpet. Actually the whole boat has been very well cared for. What I want to find out is what the original seat configuration was. Right now it has 3 seats right down the center of the boat. The throttle is on the starboard side and the stick steer is on the port side. So to drive it, you are stretched from side to side and it's kind of uncomfortable.
Other than that, I just like to know everything about the stuff I own.

Well, I figured I'd share some pics of my rig.
