New Boat 3.0L VS 4.3L

Hello all

I am looking to buy a 22ft Starcraft Islander 221 I can choose one of the following a 1979 OMC 3.0L WOPS with a Merc out-drive (140hp) OR a 1989 4.3 V6 MPI with a Merc out-drive (220hp) . I believe the 3.0 will be better on gas while trolling where as the 4.3 will be better on gas at cruising speed. What do you guys think. The boat is Aluminum and light (2200 pounds) And I will be mostly trolling in lake Ontario. I have two young kids who will probably want to do some tubing.

What does WOPS stand for I believe MPI is Multi Port Injected!!! but might be wrong.

Witch engine will be easier to find parts for or work on

Any thoughts at all will help me make this decision

run from anything that has OMC on it. (Obsolete Motor Company) the 1979 3.0 was not fuel injected.

Ayuh,.... Merc, 'n OMC never did a joint venture, so the '79 is a Junkyard Dog,... Stay Away from it....

'n Merc didn't have an MPI in '89,... So I donno what that's all about...
