need the year of my outboard

I have a 40 hp merc 4 cyl. with s/n oc214431, checked other websites and could not find anything with this s/n. any help is appreciated

Sounds just like mine no info via s/n. I have a 1998 *** tracker 40 Hp 4 cyl 2 stroke. I also can not find any info on this motor. Is there any part of the boat HIN to find the motor info like on your cars VIN? There has to be somewhere that has boat motor info.
