Corm,
Goodmorning, the coils are greenish color. I hope you got some good news. I'm on the phone all day here in Houston with the marine dealers but no luck. Would appreciate any help you might give. Steve

------------------

Re: need specs for 61-62 McCullough 45hp

Lucky you Steve,
I just got home from work. I don't have any of the coils. Maybe they can be ordered, but I was to busy to check. The coils were made by McCulloch,part no. 71230A. They maybe costly as the 75HP coils are around $55.

The coil specs are as follows:
Operating Amperage .95
Primary Resistance Min. 1.15 Max 1.4
Secondary Contunity Min 60 Max 70

Hopefully, with this info you can find a car
coil that will work in place of them. We used to put some other coil on the motors cause the factory ones cracked from heat all the time and shorted out. Some times they still will work if you use Champ J4Js gapped at .035 ratyer tha the UL17V plugs.
Do you have the resistor mounted on the back of the key switch? If so get coils for use with an external resistor.You can also use resistor coils and take the one off the motor.
Here is a link you may find helpful. http://web.a-znet.com/scottguy/

------------------
...have fun...corm

cubic inches = power
power = speed
speed = FUN

Email me if you need to.
