On my 96 225 Ocean runner I just replaced the stator that was deffintly melting. Now she still runs like crap the I unhooked the 2 kill circuts no change..then unhooked the harness no change.. then unhooked the 2 yellow wires from stator no change..I'm leaning twords the powerpack now.One more I also switched the brown wire plugs from the stator.I don't have an ohm tester or even know how to use one. Also running low on funds.Any other info would be greatly appreciated

Re: Need some help

reconnect it back the way it was, then do a cyl drop test(disconnect one wire at a time engine running) to see whitch one or ones have problem. Make sure the ground for the pack is connected.

Re: Need some help

It does have a shift interrupter switch but that would affect the starboard side.

Re: Need some help

the shift interupter was one of the black yellow striped wires I disconected (I think). I talked to the tech guy at CDI he seemed pretty confident about the pack got fried when the stator cooked. The old stator had molten resin coming out of the boxes

New powerpack in and WOW!!! She came back to life like never before. Will splash soon but want to get the timing and carbs tuned by someone more noligable than myself.I fired her up on muffs an had to back off the idle timing to bring the idle down (900) when in the water might have to go back up a little from the back pressure.I did rev slightly it was very throttle responsive.Had more crisper response than before
