If someone has a maintenance manual for a 1992 Johnson model VJ60TLENE 60HP outboard I would like to take it off your hands. I have a problem that causes the warning horn to sound continually when the ignition key is turned on. I did manage to find a wire tucked down under the fuel filter that shuts the horn off when I disconnect it but I have no idea what the wire is connected to. A blue lead comes from under the powerhead and is connected to a brown wire that disappears into a wiring harness. The motor runs very well but I get the impression that there is either a short or a failed component somwhere along one end of the wire. Any help would be greatly appreciated and I am still interested in the maintenance manual.

Still waters and tight lines.

Oldsalt

I believe the brown wire goes to your heat sensor (on the head). Problem sounds like a frayed wire somewhere between the heat sensor and the horn.........or a faulty heat sensor. Don't have the manual.

Be sure to check eBay. I found a factory manual for my engine, cheap!

Thanks for the tip Backlash I am now convinced that this is a case of frayed wiring as the alarm sounds as soon as I turn the ignition on.

page62, thanks for the ebay tip. I did find a manual there from someone in Florida but they will only ship within US and I am in Canada. One of our local Chapters bookstores can get me one in a few days.

------------------
Still waters and tight lines

Oldsalt
