Need Help w/ the ROLL and TIP method, please!

I have a 15 foot 1968 Starcraft FIBERGLASS Runabout v-hull.<br /><br />I NEED to paint her and wondering what is the cheapest method of choice?<br /><br />I keep hearing about the "Roll and Tip" method and it sounds ideal for me but i have no idea how it is done and what is needed.<br /><br />Can anyone give me a simply insight of this Method please?<br /><br />What's Needed?<br />Time?<br />Etc.<br /><br />thanks

"Roll and tip" is actually just about what it sounds like. You roll the paint on with a roller and then go over it with just the tip of a paintbrush. I understand it works the paint down into all the little crevices that the roller just rolls over. Have never had occasion to use it myself, but it makes sense.

When you roll on the paint, you'll get small air bubbles. The idea is to take a dry brush and very lightly pull it across the rolled paint. This will break the top off the bubbles and allow the paint to flatten out. You should do it in small sections, roll about 2-3 sq.ft. and then tip. If you wait too long, you'll get brush marks.<br /><br />I've painted two boats using this method (foam roller and a good tapered paint brush) and it comes out very nice.

Right, Mbrueck. I remember now. It was to get the bubbles out. All I know about it was from an article some time ago.
