Hey Guys! Mare here. Since I have NO exp (unlike capt solo) I need alll the help I can get. Anyone who has exp with fiberglass deckboats, or hurricanes in particular, can you tell me what I can look forward to (plus and minus) as far as keeping this 1993 17 footer (1993 90 hp merc O/B)in good order and having fun while doing so? ANy known pitfalls? Dont know jack about former owner, and marina I bought from, saw me coming, and provded few details (maybe they didnt know, as it came in on a trade-in.)
I took it out twice on choppy seas before I wrote the check, and it handled well, and it is now being winterized and stored at Fenwick Marine in DE. Should I have the good guy there do any investigating for me, or what? It's shrinkwrapped now, but spring is just around the corner
;)
;)
Thanks
Mare

What kind of deckboat did you buy? Lenght, engine, make, etc. What did you expect to get out of the boat, etc.

Hey JPW
It is a 17 ft 1993 Hurricane (Godfrey) model SD176, Merc 1993 90 hp O/B, fiberglass hull.

Not sure what you mean by what did I expect to get out of it?

I expect to get a great little pleasure boat for cruising that will not require a ton of complicated repairs in order to be sea-worthy next spring! I dont know if that's what I in fact got, and I am not sure how to find out. My question was merely to see if anyone had any relevant experience, so they could tell me, pro or con, what my experience might be.
Mare
