Yep, last race of the season ... highest finisher of the last 4 standing takes the season. Qualifying is Saturday at 3:30PM and the race is Sunday at 3PM for all the marbles.
After Chastain's wild ride last Sunday had him bumping Hamlin for the 4th spot, it will be JOEY!, Bell, Elliott, and Chastain in the final spots competing for the Series Championship. Team mates will be blocking and running interference for these 4 and it should be an interesting ride to the finish.
Phoenix is a 1 mile, 312 lap (312 mile) race. Phoenix Raceway has a 1551 ft long front stretch and a 1179 ft back stretch making it a "funny oval." Turns 1 and 2 have 8°-9° of banking while there is 0°-11° banking in the Frontstretch Dogleg, 10°-11° in Turns 3-4, 9° on the Frontstretch, and 3° on the Backstretch. This track first opened in 1964.
After last week's final laps run by Chastain (some loved it and some, like Hamlin, hated it because it cost him the Chase finals) and then Bad Brad getting penalized for too light of a car and sent to 34th place, shaking up the fantasy points, this week is Championship Weekend for the Fantasy League also. Several positions can be won or lost this week.Jip trails Smokin' for the lead by 15 points. FlaCowboy is 91 points behind Jip. Juskkiddin 5 trails Cowboy by 22 points. There can be movement in the top 4. The bottom part of the league is fairly well set, but there is always a possibility for a very big (or a very bad) week.
Fantasy guys, make your picks and may the best picker win! (PS, Smokin' will be driving 2000 miles in 3 1/2 days this weekend. His picks could be all over the place!
