I am planning a trip in my 24 foot cruiser to Naples Fl with an ETA during the first week in march. there are only a small number of marina's with web sites and gaining information is sparse. What I would like to do in find a reasonable place to anchor for about ten days. Transit slips are proving to be too expensive since I have a place ashore to stay (family).

Whew, not too many folks come to Naples to anchor! I don't think it is even legal. Best bet is there are several mooring buoys between Aualane shores and the Yacht club. No one really knows how the city counsel let that one slip by! Call the Naples City Dock and ask them about the mooring buoys. Unfortunately Nothing in Naples is cheap.

While in Naples make sure to get down to the end of Key Wadin Island via the intercostal, Little Marco Pass on the weekend. Best spot around. Don't try to go out the pass without local knowledge. Swing by the Snook in on Marco for lunch while you’re at it.

If you need more help shoot me an e-mail.

Mac

A mooring bouy is just fine. It has got to be cheaper than a wet slip. Besides, what has the city counsel got to do with it? I get the impression that you are telling me that if I pull out of the channel, drop the hook in a roadstead, a city cop on a PWC will mark my bow with chalk and give me a parking ticket..... :D

Hey Lucky, I live on Marco Island, just south of Naples. Depending on where you want to anchor, relative to your family, there are many places to go. If your family is in East Naples, you may want to be down this way more. There is a launch ramp on SR 951 between 41 and Marco. Let me know if you want info down this way.

PS my avatar is right around the corner from the Snook Inn - great place to visit! There is a little hotel right there called the Boat House that has docks, and the rooms have small kitchenettes. Not too fancy, not too expensive.

tHANKS FOR THE INFO....My wife is a Nurse and she does the winter time in Naples. nOrmally I visit by car, but since the boat is running really well I am looking at taking a trip by water. the expense is getting to be a limiting factor. All I need to do once in Naples is let the boat swing on the hook, and maybe get in a day or two of Gulf fishing. My traveling mate is an 18 pound whatever, and she just takes it easy in the cabin most of the day.
I still can not believe that there are no roadsteads where I can anchor in the area.
