This year marks the 40th anniversary bathtub race - for those in the Seattle or Canada area that are familiar with this - it's an awesome race!
I'm looking for someone who is willing to go to Nanaimo BC and act as a chase boat for me as I'd like to race in this race. I've raced all of the Canadian circuit races so far this year and this race is a dream I've waited 24 years to fullfill.
However, I can't race with out a chase boat.
It's an expensive proposition, but I am the ONLY American racing this year and there hasnt' been one racing since my friend quit the circuit in the late 90's.
Cost to get there, lodging, boat fuel costs, etc - I wish I could help out but someone would have to be in this for the fun of it.
The race - it used to be from Vancouver Island to Vancouver (Mainland) - 36 miles!! But for safety sakes it was converted to go out into the straights of Georgia and up 15 miles and back - It's still a total of 36 miles out in open water.
One would have to have a 17' or larger foot boat, capable of doing 30mph and have experience in rough water.
If this sounds like you and you want a super fun filled weekend at hte nanaimo Marine festival please PM me!!!
This is not an ad to make money, I just want to race in this race!!
Also if you do want to go just to watch the race etc - GO!!! You'll have a great time and the Canadians are always good to us when we are up there!!
