After reading a few of the ones here i felt I could share this.
School had just let out (I teach) and I decided to imbibe a little to reflect on the year. A few hours go by and a buddy calls up and asks if I want to take the boat out for an evening trip. I say sure but he will have to drive as I have been drinking. Everything went well till it was time to push off and go after launching. It was then I realized exactly how bad off I was. I was letting him take the drivers seat while I pushed off. I put one foot on the bow and used the other to push off. I then could not get the foot that I used to push off onto the boat and was clinging to my railing with my hands standing on one foot missing with the other. Finnaly the foot on the boat slipped off and down I go cracking my chin on the bow as I hit the water. My buddy was laughing his A** off as I sat in the water stunned trying to figure out what happened. My chin was bleeding so bad we ended up heading back home never having fished over my protest I was all right I just neeeded another shot. After I sobered up it felt like I had been in a fight, had one hell of a hangover and to top it off I found out cell phones do not like soaking in water.
To this day I don't go out in the boat after having anything to drink nor do I allow alchol onboard unless I am camping so I can have ONE before going to bed by the fire.

Re: My stupid trick.

The years have healed it and also cut my intake of hi octane drinks. I still imbibe but now it is infrequent and when I can take the time to enjoy it.

Sorry I usually use big words when talking like that. My students being as they are not the brightest apple in the bunch and a few just shy of rotten don't usually catch onto stuff like that so we can talk about our Friday or weekend plans w/o them catching on. I guess I have gotten too used to it what I meant to say is I dont't drink like that anymore. I usually only have one or two over the course of a weekend.
