i got this boat last spring as a fishing, sking, tubing, what ever i wanted to do with it boat. Now its my project! I new upon buying it it had some issues that i would fix in the futre. Was not prepared for the following
1.Trim pump went out on first trip. Unbolted the rams and straped the drive up and took her home.
2nd trip. Up to houghton lake! Supper exited! backed it in started up! got out just passed the markers and the distributor blew up! pulled back by friendly pontooners!
3rd trip involved new points and condensors along with a carb rebuild and actually ran sweet and had no problems!
4th trip. Lower sea water pick up pump went out and overheated the head.
5th trip with new head, valves, pumps, gasckets, and plugs! it ran sweet and had a blast tubing and skiing!
6th trip got all the way down to Hell Michigan and it wouldnt start! choke stuck and flooded the crap out of it. Once i fixed it it ran sweet!
7th trip. Back up to houghton lake! got it off the trailer and backed away from dock and for some reason lost drive. After i managed to get it in nuetral and back up to the dock i found a bolt fell out of the cable adjustment. I tightened it and the others back up and spent the entire weekend out on the lake with no problems what so ever! ran great and came home sore from tubing, skiing and the horible sun burn!

The rest fo the summer went well and didnt have problems. I had a blast with it until the last trip of the year! Me and my fishing buddy went down to Hell Michigan which is my favorite place to take the boat and spent the enitre day out on the chain of lakes! Late in the day as the sun was going down i noticed some water in the back of the boat above the bildge area on the floor. i realized that this water was comming from underneath of the floor! After noticing this we made a quick dash back to the boat launch and i did notice that my truck worked allot harder pulling it up the ramp and the trailer was squating allot more than usual. There is a crack on the bottom of the hull that some one before me had tried to fix. This is were the water began getting into the hull.

Ok so now that i have rambled on about everything i have done to this boat i will show you what i started over the winter. This is my first time posting anything on hear so bear with me!

Re: My 1977 Four Winns marquise project

I had a trip like your last one, with my first fiberglass boat. It was only about 14', I took a Skil saw to it and put the pieces in a dumpster.
I rebuilt a 19' I/O this winter, looked like your project. Good luck, I couldn't have done it without these guys here.

Well i now have 5 stringers in. The very outer stringers in this picture are actually new stringer to help strengthen the hull. Originally the boat only had 5 stringers. once i get the last 2 in it will have seven along with the 4 cross braces.

Re: My 1977 Four Winns marquise project

Ok i have been busy with work school and camping trips so i have been working on it every chance i get. I have finished the stringers and got the new deck and foam in. I also sealed the edges with glass last night. i have to coat the top of the deck to seal it from water but i wont have time until after the holiday weekend as i will be up north again. I did have a blast sunday out on a local lake running it around. First time on the water in a year and it ran Awesome! Cant wait to go tubing with it again! All ihave to do now is seal the deck and lay carpet in. Seats will be redone eventually but i just want to use it for once!

Check out this video! i mounted my go pro on the back for tubing footage but here it is on the water! sound sucks but still kina cool. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WcEQXDbBS78&feature=plcp.
