mounting a outboard

I have a 1969 glastron and a 1992 40HP yamaha. The transom goes in at an angle and not straight up and down. Will that have any affect on the performance of the motor. If so How can I straighten it out in a cheap way.

That's why outboards have "trim" settings (manual or power). Manual systems use a horizontal pin that can be set to a five or six positions to position the motor as required. Power trim systems use a button on the control lever to tilt the engine in or out.
