I have a 20 ' wellcraft outboard that has two drains in the motor well where sea water enters and then leaves...One of the drain holes has a plastic insert and does not leak into the bildge...The other hole has no insert and after much looking around i have discovered that sea water in migrating through the fiberglass and plywood core in the trasom that is exposed in the drain hole..the water is a steady trickle into the bildge..Where do i get an insert for the drain hole and what is it called..also how do i put in in and seal it in a wet application..the boat is at a mooring and id rather not pull it untill the season ends..(dont have a trailer)..( I can fix better when its on dry dock but what can I do for now)...thank you so much

What Wellcraft do you have? Is it a self bailing deck and you don't have any scuppers on it?

Very bad situation. The transom core is now soaked; rot is the inevitable result if left long enough. That hole needs to be sealed and the transom dried out, pronto. That is going to mean pulling the boat out of the water.

That would be tough to do properly while the core is wet. To do it properly, assuming no rot (a very big assumption), you would slightly increase the diameter of the hole on the core (without touching the fiberglass) and seal with epoxy. You could then install a through-hull to finish it off.

But right now, you want to stop any more water from entering the hole. Temporary patches over the holes, one both sides, might work, but I really think you're going to need to pull the boat to prevent any more damage from occurring.
