Motor speedo (MPH) not working

Whatever speed I'm running, my indicated speed (MPH) will read anywhere from 1.1 up to 2.somethng.
I'm sure the water passge that controls this is probably clogged, but I can't find where this passage is. It's gotta be somewhere on the foward facing portion of the lower unit.
I have a 2001 V-Max 150 (model V150TRZ).
Where do I need to be looking and what should I look for:confused:?

My speedometer doesn't work either. I've narrowed it down to a gauge issue.

-What you can try is to crawl under the dash and pull the rubber tube off the back of the speedo and blow into it. You should see bubbles flowing from a little fin-like tube that hangs down into the water from the bottom of the transom. The speedo works by air pressure: a hole in the front of that fin allows water to enter, and the faster you go the more pressure in the rubber tube. If you have bubbling at the back [like I do], then it is probably a gauge.

Good luck-

My yamaha 115 has a very very tiny hole on the front of the lower unit foot and it gets clogged up sometime. It also has an air tube running to the gauge from the back of that tiny litle hole that should be checked for continuity.
