Thanks for answering my question on my post on 6/29/01 (two fold question about a Johnson). I have replaced the throttle linkage cable, and now the throttle is SMOOTH!!!! I still am wondering about the amount of time it takes to plane up out of the water. When the boat is sitting still SOMETIMES you can throttle up and it planes up in about 30-45 seconds. Other times it takes over a minute or two and still never planes out. You can shift to neutral and clear the engine out and shift back to forward and it seems to do a little better. Here is my theory, see if it makes sense. I feel like the prop may be too big and laoding up the engine at times. Once you get up to speed the boat performs perfect, but if you ever lose speed and RPM's you can forget it. It also has one of those spoiler wings over the prop, mine is different than others I have seen, mine has 45 degree downturns on both ends. Most others are flat. Does this make any difference? What size prop should a 100HP Johnson on a 15 foot modified V hull have? I have no idea as to what size prop mine is running now, I do not know where to look for prop size. As it is now, I could never pull a skier or kneeboard. It does not have the intial quickness out of the hole.
Thanks again.
Barry
