Bought this Honda 100 model B100S S/N1300635. It started right up and runs good. Can I check the rpm's on the pulley that has the belt on the top front of the motor? I would use a dial gauge with a rubber tip that you hold on the end of the shaft. Does that shaft run at true engine rpm? It sounds as if it is running to fast what is top rpm's? Also there is a rubber plug on the left side on the motor, when you pull it off there is like a 120 volt plug with one shaft at right angle to the other. What is its use? What oil or grease is used in l/u. Thanks

This engine runs at 1200 +-50 in neutral warmed up.A flywheel Tach will likely work but chainsaw tachs are more readily available and work nicely for this engine and can be cheaper.Remember, this thing fires like a two stoke. That plug on the side of the engine is for charging a battery and gives a very limited charge if it is still intact.

Re: More questions on a 10hp Honda

Thanks Hondon. On the rpm question, it would be simpler to take a reading off the belt pulley on top of motor that I would guess is the cam shaft. Does that pulley turn at the same rpm as the crank shaft? I would have to remove the recoil starter to get to the crank shaft. Or am I all confused. If I did use that shaft any idea what the rpm's would be? thanks again

The cam turns at 1/2 the rpm of the crank.
