mixing 2 stroke oils

can i change from pennsoil to xd-30 without having to remove the resivoir tank empty and some how clean it.. ive heard yes and no. my ears are open for all opinions thanks

You can mix them ive done it for years with no problem

Isn't it true that one of the spec's for tcw3 oil is that it's fully compatible with all other's with the same rating?

Well, what if they don't mix, what do you have? Something like marble swirl ice cream I'd guess where you could see swirls of both. But so what. It's not like your curdle milk if you pour alcohol into it.

Both are oils, and both would lubricate if use independently, so what's the beef? Your engine probably can't tell the difference between the oils or the fact that they are segregated or homogenized.

Same thing in lower unit oils. Merc lower unit oils suggest you don't mix them. Only reason I can think of that would hurt anything would be if you ran non-high perf oil in a high perf gearbox and it couldn't stand up to the gear/bearing load and squished out.

Same with antifreeze. So what if they don't combine? I notice that Prestone says theirs will mix with any (meaning reg Eth Gly or the 150,00 mi pink stuff) anti freeze.

Go for it.
