After two hours cruising down the river my mercury engine cut out. I was able to restart about 10.minutes later and putted a mile down the river at 1500 RPM.

Following day I attempted to fox reverse gate and then a hose clamp let go and about 10 inches of water was below engine. I drained the water, fixed the clamp.and went back on water.

Boat felt great then about 10.minutes engine failure. Took off head and piston on bottom #6 crown burnt off. The ring was hanging and cylinder looks okay but has melted aluminum on wall.

2000 Sugar Sands Tango 4+2 was rebult in 2015. Appreciate any insight into what probably happened and should I invest to get boat running. It's in solid shape and wonderful boat for family.

Need to tear engine down.------Inspect cylinder for cracks.----Determine reason for the failure.-----Then do the repairs.----Inspect all other cylinders too.-----Clean carburetors.----Inspect oil injection bits if that system is in service.
