Hi Folks-
140 Mercruiser, 16' boat, 14.25 x 17 and 19p props. Boat cruises mostly and occasionally launches a tube or wakeboarder.

the 17p is missing a couple pieces from last season, the 19p is currently installed and has been "rolled" in a couple places along the old repair weld metal. Sandbar-machined by another family member, so to speak.

I don't know what "too much" or "let her ride" damage on a prop looks like.

My question is can I run the 19p as main and the other as spare for a short weekend? I am having trouble locating another one and too close to the weekend to have them redone by a pro. Would a person want to file off the rolled burrs on the 19p or leave them for the prop refinisher?

Pics are 19p, 17p, and another view 19p

Thanks and happy boating!

Based strictly on the photos, I'd be inclined to run the first one as long as your boat performs okay. The middle one I'd not want to run- looks like enough missing to be out of balance. Can't really tell too much on the third one. Any of them would probably be repairable.

Thanks Brewman61!
The first and third pic are the same prop.
It is so hot here that the digital camera was fogging up.
The 19p was "milled" right before the end of the day so the boat never saw WOT so I don't know if there are high-speed issues. I would just like to get out for a few hours then take them both in next week and have a runner and a spare instead of two in need of service.

For a weekend I don't think either one is a problem.Assuming the damage doesn't cause venting isues. The 17 will give more power and control for tubing.
you could probably clean up the edges of the 19. for cruising.
If one vibrates a lot you should probably forget using it like that.
