I am looking to repower my boat with a 225-250 EFI. I have found some great deals on the 97-01 Merc and Mariner EFI's. Has there been any problems with these motors? Thanks, Steve

Re: Merc/Mariner 225-250 EFI

I bought a new in the box 1999 250EFi 12 months ago for a steal, about half the price of a Yamaha 250. Ive had one problem which was a high pressure fuel pump at 20 hours or so, Mercury replaced the entire unit eventhough there seemed to be only a small component failure and they re-imbursed me the $$tow in fee$$ after I made a phone call to Wisconsin. My recent posts on loss of RPM and top speed has turned out to be a loose wire connection which I plugged in this morning and have been hauling ass all day fine. Ive always had Mercury and during those days of ignorant youth when I only knew one speed, full throttle, I have only had a handfull of problems in twenty years. Give these guys a call 305-937-4828 ask for David, all he sells is Mercury and he can find you a deal too..good Luck, Mark
