merc 90 hp whats the problem now?

well last night I did a little messing around with it. I bought a new fuel line (from gas tank to motor). And I followed the + cable all the way so I knew I had the right one. Anyway I got it started and it ran well but then when I went to drop into gear it stalls. When I first start it it has to be almost full throttle (in the warm up throttle). Is this just a carb problem or is it an eletrical problem? Thanks for everyones input also..................

Did you have it in a tank, in the lake or on muffs? Makes a difference.

It will only start in the throttle out (warm up) full throttle not in. As soon as I bring it back down to nuteral it just dies out.

No exhaust back pressure on the muffs, Rich. Needs the idle set with back pressure.

so the carbs(idle) needs to be set in the water?
So the problem is the idle in this case? Thanks for the input.......8)

Idle mixture and idle speed both need to be set with the engine in the water.

thank you JB and silvertip im not good at that stuff so i may send it into the shop thanks again. How much do you think that will run me?
