I recently purchased a old starcraft aluminum boat. It has a soft floor i only intend on keeping the boat a few years and will be covered when not in use. I only have 700 in the boat 2 motors and trailer. I debating between regular or marine grade and what thickness should i use. How long will treated hold up.

Sandman I used treated on my Lund just make sure it is dry, treated likes to warp as it dries. I used 5/8 on the main floor and 3/4 on the casting deck in the front. Marine grade was way to expensive. Don,t know how long it will last, also use a water sealer on any edge you make a cut. Hope this helps Good Luck. :)

Sandman, definently use treated for the floorboards. The marine is just a solid core (no voids) plywood, put together with water proof glue. It has to be completely sealed, and used as floorboards it is always going to get the sealer scratched, and marred, letting in water, which will rot it quickly. If you get treated (and especially below grade) it will not be subject to rotting so fast. Fasten it down, to defeat warping, and do not seal it so it can dry out between wettings. Go to Lowes, and get the stain that is used to color, and water proof cedar house (siding) shakes, and it will soak in and the treated wood will then shed water like a duck's back. :D :D

marine grade is the way to go. why the heck would manuf. give a lifetime warr. on decks. the marine grade usually is 7 ply and permeated. think about it?? if you are putting a deck on your house what do you use?? this is not rocket science-been in my house 15 years and pressure treated frame to my 20x24 deck is still there and rock solid. of course if boat is in the water season after season may make a difference but how bout 15 years of new england winters????? marine grade, do it dude. mules
