:D We picked up our New Glastron MX 185 yesterday. Today we took her out on Lake Ontario. First time ever Launching a boat or trailering a boat.

We did GREAT. Thanks to all of you, we got everything ready BEFORE we got to the ramp. we didn't forget the drain plug. We remembered to undo the brake cable and the Stern straps. We used 4 wheel drive on the ramp. we remembered to run the blower before starting the engine. the only mishap was we lost one of the Thumb screws on the Bimini top. It is now at the bottom of Lake Ontario. Not too bad for a pair of newbies.

So the question is, is there something out there that is better than the thumb screws that it comes with it? Seems silly to me to have something that can rattle loose and yet not be attached to anything so it sinks to the bottom!

Thanks.

I can't help you with the thumb screws but I pleased you had a great first outing.
I just wish I'd dicovered iboats before my maiden votage. Would have saved a lot of pain:facepalm:

Re: Maiden Voyage

Sounds like a great maiden voyage! On our previous Glastron GX205, the bimini attached using a side mount instead of a "saddle" mount and the quick release type pins would not work. It had to be the threaded thumb screws. Wife dropped one overboard also so we bought extras to have on board just in case. Also tried to do the bimini setup before getting on water when doing other pre-launch stuff.

And, hope all of your outings are that trouble free but just keep in mind that it is unlikely. So, if something happens like forgetting the plug or trying to launch with transom straps attached don't get too flustered!
