lowrance elite 5

new to gps wondering when i turn me unit on and go to the chart it shows me where i am at but the map looks upside down dont know what i did but tried to change settings i know i done something but dont know what can anyone help a newbie as to what settings i need to be at think the eliite 5 was a bad choice but got to try to live with it thanks gary at badin lake nc maybe i should of not said lakes looks upside down seems like when ia sitting at the dock the dock should be on my left but it is on the right just opposit of what it should be looking out at the lake my boat is heading almost south but looking as if i am going north lowrance was no hepl to me should i be in true norht or cog both looked the same thanks

You have two options in the chart menu for orientation you can select North Up or COG=course over ground that is most likely what you changed that is causing your problem just find that and try switching modes. If that doesn't do it you may not be receiving from enough satellites long enough for the GPS to obtain a good fix try leaving the unit on for awhile. Oh yeah your unit shipped with the orientation menu option set as North Up as the default setting.Hope this helps you post back if it does.

thanks for getting with me i have changed it in both cog and north up does not change it any i realize i am sitting at the dock but shouldnt it show me sitting in my slip as i look to the front of the boat i am showing 8 or 9 satellites reciveing good do i hve to be moving for this to change i dont want to have to look where i am going wrong could mess me up at night or in tge fog read everything just dont know what i am doing thanks for the help trying to find someone with experance to go with me but no luck

I think direction/orientation requires at least a little movement of the boat. Have you tried the unit while underway?

BTW, all the punctuation marks appear to be missing from your keyboard.:redface:
