Lower unit

My 69 85hp V4 lower unit is frozen its at the repair shop he wants to much to rebuild so when Im on ebay etcs what do i need to look for will there be certain years or electomatic I very confussed theres some v4 on ebay but how do i know if thell fit mine.Thx much

It may seem obvious to you, but what make engine are you talking about? What is the model number?
