Looking for an owners manual and shop manual for 1992 Lowe 1620. Just bought this nice unit and looking especially for something that will help me make sense of the wiring and boat in general. Thanks so much for any help you may be able to lend. Have searched the web and find nothing out there.

Thanks for the reply. I do have the motor manual, but was trying to see if anyone had the original factory service manual to determine just what Lowe did for the boat wiring. I did send a note to Lowe to see if they have any archived manuals (if any existed).

Anxious to have the lakes unfreeze here in Minnesota so i can try this rig out.

Thanks again

Re: Lowe manuals

Not gonna happen, they just don't make manuals for boats like they do cars, I really doubt the factory has a wiring diagram, those are normally not done in house and just come in a box with a model number on them.

A prodution run of cars is 300,000+ where they may have made 800-1500 of your boat so it just isn't economically viable to print a manual for it.

Probably wouldn't help you anyhow, alot of stuff can get changed in 22 years, people do some funny stuff to boats and it is best to start over with wiring, that way you know it is right.

I got a 20 year old boat and ended up pulling a 5 gallon bucket of wire out of it that wasn't hooked to anything.

Are you having a specific issue with the electric?

Re: Lowe manuals

The "other" half of the story is that most boats are set up and wired by the dealers. Various motors and dealer habits dictate which gauges are wired in.

You really do have the most important book by having a motor manual (BTW the factory OEM are the best) and the generic wiring diagrams in our electrical section can guide you along. There is also a book called the "12 Volt Bible" which is available from different places on the internet which will help you.

Most boat user manuals contain all the same information, safety, buoys and basic trivia. Seldom do they show specifics......

Yep that is the same here. Basic original wiring pretty well intact. I am just going to add what I need for a power outlet and added gauges along with a new breaker panel and some decent interior lights. Thanks so much for the reply.

Thanks Bob. You guys are just great. Have moved forward with adding the wiring I want and am leaving the factory wiring alone. Lots of fun trying to strip out unused and crummy wiring that was added by former owner. Ended up removing 3 old transducer wires they had simply cut off and abandoned. Lakes are looking very soft, won't be long now.
