Is it normal to have a lot of steam from the engine when cruising in cold water?

The boat is a BL2556 with 7,4/454 Volvo Penta and SX sterndrive. Raw water cooled with open exhaust through the stern. Sea water temperature is about 10 degrees C.

Are you sure it's steam? What is the engine temp at this time, and have you checked your oil?

It's probably normal.. Your in Canada (?)

I guess it depends on how much steam you are talking about (hard to understand without seeing)

Water does pass through to cool the exhaust as well, so your probably ok.
