I am looking at buying a 2009 Bayliner 175 for just cruising around the lake and doing some tubing.

I have heard there use to be a problem with older style Bayliner hulls. Is this still an issue with the 2009's?

The boat has had a single owner and only has 150 hours on it. 3.0L Mercrusier I/O. Interior looks in great condition.

Asking price is $18000 CAD.

Any thoughts or concerns

It is still a 14 year old boat. What matters most is how the boat was cared for over those years. The only way to tell is a thorough inspection, preferably by someone who knows boats.

Agree with JAS, it's a 15 year old boat (2024s coming out soon) made in Mexico

Most of the rot issues from the 1980s and 90s are gone.

However it's an entry level model for an entry level brand. There are lots of plastic bits that will be showing their age

150 hours means it sat ....alot. and probably for a few years at a time

The only thing that matters today is the condition that it is currently in and if the maintenance was kept up.

I think for that size boat that an outboard would be a much better choice.Especially for your planned usage.
The Bayliner is not a very dry boat, quite wet as a matter of fact.Charlie

I've got an '02 195 Classic. It's nothing special, but it's been a good boat for us. Dad bought it new, and I got it when my parents couldn't really use it any longer. If the boat is in very good condition / well cared for ... it can be a very good boat. But like earlier stated: it's an entry level boat. Nothing fancy at all, and some of the rigging will disappoint you in terms of quality.

Note JAS post #2 above, and check out the checklist link in my signature.

Bayliner quality has improved since they had all of the issues. It is still and entry level boat. I had a similar size Sea Ray with a 3.0 years ago. As my kids got bigger that boat got small fast. How many people do you plan to go out with?

Would be looking for repair and winterization records. Look at the bellows for rips and cracks. replace the water pump impeller if you buy it. If it was reasonably maintained should have a lot of life left in it.
