I have a 58 lightwin and cannot find a new petcock anywhere. I have looked all around, all the marina's and dealerships around and cannot find the right one. The one I have is fine, but the gasket inside has rotted and it leaks. I tried to just find another gasket, but none fit. Could someone help me?

Part number 177183 is listed as no longer available. The last price was about $40.

So, it is just the packing is leaking? Try wrapping some plain cotton string around it and reinstall the packing nut.

I wrapped between the little washer and the nut. Is that what I am supposed to do?

Screw the stem in the valve, nut slid back, and then wrap some around the stem and screw the nut back on tight enough so it "feels good".
