i want to change my lights to led lights can i just change the bulbs on my boat or do i have to change the wiring too all the wiring is done on it for regular lights. it's a 14 sea nymph aluminum boat. i know that leds draw less battery power than regular lights that's why i want to change them. or do i have to buy the navigational led light and the sten light in leds too and change the wire gauge too. you's been a big help before thanks

Re: led lights

You can upgrade your lights to led without changing any wiring. Led lights draw less amps than conventional incandescent lights so wiring won't be an issue. Here is a link to a site that may have what you are looking for:

You will have to scroll about 3/4 of the way down to get to the marine lights.
The only concern I would have is the brightness. Your navigation lights need to be visible from a good distance for safety. Maybe contact the supplier and see if they can send you some comparison info on the two types. This should be available to you.

Re: led lights

If your going to simply install a LED bulb you need to choose one the color of the lens it's behind. LED's unlike incans only send out the proper wavelength of light to create that color. So a Green LED only sends out green wavelenghts of light, if you place it behind a red lens, very little light will make it out.

Your better off looking into a replacement housing thats meant for led's. They are more expensive, but all meet USCG standards for visibility.

There's more available you'd just have to do a search and look around.
