I was curious if anyone has any experience on some lakes in my neck of the woods in GA. I usually go to a lake that is within five miles of my house(allatoona) and I have drivin to Lanier, but was curious of some other smaller lakes that are less crowded that somebody might know about. IE. Lake Carter, or any others in Northern Ga. If anyone is a local to GA. I live in Cartersville. Thanks for any info.

Lake Alatoona is nice. Less crowded than Lanier (unless ou go to north lanier).

Hartwell is nice, but that is up in the NE corner of the state. You can go to Tugaloo state park if you want up there. Anywhere from primitive camping to renting a cabin. Cabins are fully equiped with 2 bedrooms, kitchen, air, and there is a boat dock for each cabin. $80 a night. Nice to spend a weekend and only launch the boat once.

Lake Burton is the best, but it is a haul for you. It is above Helen, GA. You can camp and or dock at Moccassin Creek State Park.
