Big Lake Minnesota. They close the public landing on the lake on weekends during the summer. Pulled in to launch at the park landing and they wanted $15 to launch and park my truck and trailer. I get charging a few $ because to maintain but $15 Never will pay that.

I live in the land of 10,000 lakes I have more options no need to deal with this nonsense at an algae infested cesspool.

Our state park ramps are free, but all the other marina ramps charge $8

I know this is WAY off topic but I helped my Mom pay off her association fee in her PHX neighborhood , so for $800 a year they let her know if she has a weed in the desert landscaping.

Closing the public landing on weekends sounds illegal. Sounds like the residents on that lake want the lake to themselves. Go figure. They're entitled you know...

You Yanks are spoiled. The ramp closest to me wants 30 bucks to launch and park and the docks where you tie up suck. Boaters from Toronto that pay more than a million bucks for a studio condo have no problem paying it. Any given weekend it is a 1/2 wait or more to launch and retrieve. I refuse to pay that money gouge but do love to sit on the patio at the restaurant and watch the ramp follies on a Sunday afternoon. That's worth 30 bucks alone.

My Minnesota taxes pay for public boat ramps, some people that live on a lake feel as though they own past the shore.

Years ago Manitoba was coming out with a plate that said land of 100,000 lakes! not to be outdone Ontario was going to point out we had 400,000 but saner heads prevailed and MINNY was allowed to think they had a lot of lakes.:D

You all don’t know how good you have it. Here in California a $15 to $20 launch fee is common. The other day I took my dog and a friend out fishing at one of our Central Valley Reservoirs. For my truck, boat and me to enter launch, park and fish $23. Plus $5 for my dog (yep they charge $5 per dog) and another $7 for my friend to enter and fish, total $35 for a day of fishing with dog and friend. Gas here averages around $3.50 a gallon. Gas for boat and truck about $45. Misc about $30. Total for a day fishing $100 plus.At least we got limits of trout. (Expensive trout)

Tell them your dog is actually human suffering from that dog face disease some unfortunate humans do have. I as well figure a day on the lake fishing is 100 bucks,,,,, minimum. Then it is the standard thing for one of your mates to to offer to kick in the preverbal 20 bucks to share the cost. Man if it only cost me 20 bucks for a day on the water in someone else's boat I'll give them mine. We have a total of 1 free to launch ramp in my county. The problem is everyone from outside the county shows up early and takes all the parking spots. I've suggested to our town council and Mayor that residence boaters get a sticker on their trucks saying you pay TAXES. Any vehicle without the sticker pay the fair fee in one of those machines they have in parking lots. Taken under advisement, 7 years ago. The county next to us, Niagara, did the exact thing 6 years ago that has created enough revenue to cover the cost of maintaining the thing plus $ in the bank. .

I absolutely detest all homeowners associations from neighbourhood associations that make rules like one can not leave their garage doors open other than to the time to get something in and out. One lake association limits the amount of time one is allowed to run a boat and the boat engine noise must be low X decibels. An old friend at the plant had this on their little private lake world in Ontario. I once owned a condo where the Pres. was basically a, well I called her The House Nazi, I'll leave it at that. She wanted garbage cans to be all the same size and colour with the numbers on them in the same sizes, colours and font. We moved ASAP. She was young and in good condition and didn't look like she was leaving the Earth unassisted any time soon.

The only places I've ever lived at that have rules where apartments when getting started. First house was in middle class neighborhood. As times got better I kept moving up, and could have moved to high end places but didn't. While I don't care for major unkept places, I like to be able to do what I want to do, when I want to do it.

Leave my truck or boat in the drive way, park in the grass, don't cut the grass, have crab grass, sit on the front porch and drink beer.

HOA's are for folks which like them, to each their own

A day of fishing for $100 is pretty reasonable

Took my wife out for a 1.5 hour boat ride last Sunday.
When all was said and done....$108 in an hour...and no fish.....lol

That's crazy. I would have left too. We live
in the brush, no association. And a Board member complained about the color of someones shed, it was grey. That's about the time I would put pink flamingos everywhere, house may be hot pink too ..
