The kill switch on my OMC remote control (86 Johnson 225) is no good. I removed the switch and tried to find a replacement. No such luck, I can't find one. I purchased the Saf-t-stop switch only to find out that it doesn't fit. The problem is the tension adjustment rod for the throttle handle gets in the way. I noticed that these switches are rated for 10 amps.
Will any toggle switch work if it is rated for the proper amps?

Re: Kill Switch

???I don't understand. Are you looking for the emergency ignition cut-off switch--the one that stops the motor when you fall overboard? For the regular side-mount control? I come up with part number 393132, replaced by 585134. Any Johnson or Evinrude dealer for about 35 bucks. Should be no problem.

Re: Kill Switch

you can get an aftermarket kill switch at academy or BPS or cabelas and put it on the dash or whereever you have space for it...connect one side to the black/yellow wire & the other to any good ground. yeah any old toggle switch will function but how will you attach your lanyard?
