The middle of NY's Finger Lakes, and one of the best for fishing--smallmouth, largemouth, salmon, lake trout, pam fish, etc. Y-shaped with almost seventy miles of shoreline.

On second thought, forget the above, I don't think you would like it.... I don't need more people going by the cottage....

Re: Keuka Lake

Fire up the grill I'm on the way! OK, seriously now, my family and I were thinking about heading up to the Finger Lakes in 06 to do some fishing. The problem is everyone I talk to recommends a different lake. So far I've got Seneca, Conesus, Skaneateles, and now Keuka recommended by as many people. I guess they must all be pretty good. I was just looking at my Finger Lakes Fishing and Hunting guide book about a half hour before I read this post. Can you recommend any good rental cottages or guides?

I've visited the region my whole life and still have relatives in the little town of Wayne, NY (Waneta Lake).

One of the nice things about the Finger lakes is their close proximity to each other. You can visit more than one during a single vacation. I'd recommend selecting a rental you like and plan to spend at least a day driving to other lakes (and towns) to sample each area's "flavor". I like Watkins Glen and Hammondsport, but it's the little "in between" towns that sometimes hold the biggest surprise. Be aware, though- away from the towns and lakes there's not much to see unless you like farmland and hills!

Here a couple links to rentals. I'm sure a web search would turn up more:
http://fingerlakesgetawaysinc.com/rentalindex.html
http://www.cyberrentals.com/Finger-Lakes-Area/s/5392/fa/find.squery
http://www.wanetawebcam.com/wanetarental/rental.html
http://www.wrightscottages.com/
PS- no personal experience with any of the links except the last one- the Wright's are very nice people and they have beautiful cottages.
Enjoy!
