I just found out my boat is a 1970 Jupiter V... I went to Starcrafts site and they had no reference to a Jupiter model!!! At anyrate I am the 3rd owner of this boat... the original owner bought it and ran it till 75 when he ruined the motor!!! [bad impeller never replaced] So in 75 he purchased a brand new 70hp Evinrude and ran it till 76 or 77. At which time his wife bought him a Chieftain and Jupiter sat in a garage till 94 or 95 when my best friends dad bought it. Owner no.1 told owner no.2 the ritual he must do to keep thing 'all good' so during the first 2 yrs. of his 'new' boat he fished maybe 10 times. After that every so often he would but the motor in the barrel and fire her up, work the cables, etc.!!! So after declining many offers to purchase the boat I was the fortunate 'bud' to end up with HIM!!! Replaced plywood in the back [cover leaked], new boat carpet, a good cleaning, rebuild carbs, all new fuel lines, impeller, lower unit oil, rewired complete boat and new plugs and it was ready to go!!! That was 3 yrs ago this year and 'Elmer' has been great!!! We have put alot of fish on the stringer together and I'd like to think of 'Elmer James' as a freind!!! Some of u guess out there know what I'm talking about!!! Thanks for listening to my story... ***may the strikes be hard & the fish be big***
