Johnson CD-15 not starting issues

Greetings All Experts,
I need help. The motor sat idle for 10+ yrs. I've so far cleaned and rebuilt carb re-using old cork float(dropped in glass jar of gas, AOK). Used new needle valve and float circlip. (Old valve had no clip on it) Coils were cracked:replaced. Cleaned and checked point gap @ .020. New plugs @ .030. Used spark tester and open gap test, both good. Rebuilt pressure tank to achieve fuel flow and does hold pressure. Fuel in the bowl. Compression test:top 80 PSI,bottom 85 PSI. When spraying fuel mix through carb, no go. Sprayed into cylinders,ran for 2 or 3 seconds only. What am I missing? Set float as suggested by all literature. Questions I have: Could not replacing the condensers affect this? How can I adjust the float to at least get it running to fine tune it? I'm at the end of my rope. Still some nice weather left here in PA to catch some walleyes. Any help greatly appreciated.

If it runs with fuel sprayed directly into the cylinders, then you have a fuel delivery problem. Ignition is good. The 2 or 3 second run is burning just what you've sprayed in.
Fuel isn't getting through the intake manifold to the cylinders.

Check and make sure your tank is pressurizing. If it is, then you should check all your lines and make sure fuel is flowing freely to the carb bowl.

Yeah, just burning off the prime. Possible air leak, or fuel delivery blockage. Try a fuel bottle to gravity feed the carb and therefore eliminate the tank as a source of trouble because this engine has no fuel pump. Oh, make sure the oil line from the top to bottom bearing is not leaking! I had to repalce mine as it was cracked. Did you boil out the carb, replace the needle packings, and properly reseal and replace the welch plug?

I'm sure the tank is pressurizing as the other day when attempting to start and when I was done I released the cap and got a good air sound. I replaced the needle packings and replaced and resealed the welch plug. Only soaked carb overnight and blew out all needles and passages. I only need to know where that oil line is located although I can check my Marineengine pages also. Just one more ?, would removing the float temporarily as a troubleshooter, do any harm to the circuit or would too much fuel be flowing at one time to isolate the problem? Thanks for all your great info, I'll see what happens.

You'll see the oil line on the side of the block, where the two halves go together. It's usually a thin metal line, or rubber hose. On your motor, it'll be a small rubber hose. It will be item 23 on page 8 found here:

If you remove the float, gas will just pour out the carb and flood your engine out. You can pull the lower needle out and pump the tank primer, to see if gas is getting in the carb. If gas isn't getting into the carb, by pumping the primer, then you have a clog. You can narrow down the clog, by removing the inlet fuel line, from the carb. If you do get fuel by pumping the primer then, your clog is narrowed down to the float needle assembly. If not, then trace back to where the fuel line hooks to the sediment bowl.

Thanks for the great info. You guys here are awesome, I learn something new and useful with each question asked. I now know where the oil line is and from previous inspections looks good. Thanks for the concept on the float operating. I'll try all this tomorrow and I'll post back with results.

Remove the filter element under the carb and try it.
Those filters can be a bugger to clean.
