Hi, Dani. The inline loop scavenged JohnnyRudes are my favorite 2 stroke engines. The engineering is superior.

The problem(s) here are these:

1. No Warranty. If you decide to buy it, get the extended warranty and consider it part of the price of the engine.

2. The grapevine is cluttered with tales of terrible quality control in the last year or two before the bankruptcy. Manufacturing employees seemed to stop caring when the writing appeared on the wall. If the engine was built right, it is as good as any 50 ever built, by anyone.

Just protect yourself.

Red sky at night. . .
JB :)

Extended warrantys have never made sense for my needs. You could spend the extra $550 for the warranty on a Honda 4stroke engine what could go wrong with it?

hello DANI,
I owned a 98 rude 50hp inline 2 cylinder. after only a few hours right out the box it just died on me out fishing one day. it did crank up again after trying for a couple of minutes. the alarm never went off. brought it back to the dealer and they told me it had defected power head. OMC sent another and it was installed free of charge. their cost was $2100.00. CAN YOU BELEIVE the same thing happen a second time. the dealer called me at work and said this time they found water in my gas?? everything was brand new, the whole rig!! never was even caught in a rain storm. amagine that. they refused to do anything at this point because it was not a manufactory defect. it was my fault. they even charged me $60.00 to tell me this. now here i was, brand new everything and a second powerhead failure on my dime. had it rebuilt by a good outboard wrench and he told me the problem was the oil injection was not injecting properly. he disconnected the darn thing and i now have about 300 hours and never had another problem. SO BEWARE, disconnect the oil injection and pre-mix. it's your safe bet. it cost me a extra $1400.00 to find this out with a brand new motor!!!!
