Re: jarob

Check your battery connections first. They have to be clean and tight. Grab a pliers and snug-up the wingnuts. Finger-tight just isn't good enough. Then check the connections at the voltage regulator. Make sure they are clean and fully engaged. If that has the pin-type rubber connector, the pins and sockets sometimes get pushed out of position. Failing that, it must be the regulator or stator, but typically once they've failed, they've failed. There's not much intermittent stuff regarding failures of those.

Re: jarob

Thanks WillyBWright, The consistincy of the drop off of the tacho didn't seem to me to be a connection problem however I went over all the connections with no better results so took in to my mechanic who replaced the rectifier/regulator unit which has fixed both problems. Thanks for your input
