Check your battery connections first. They have to be clean and tight. Grab a pliers and snug-up the wingnuts. Finger-tight just isn't good enough. Then check the connections at the voltage regulator. Make sure they are clean and fully engaged. If that has the pin-type rubber connector, the pins and sockets sometimes get pushed out of position. Failing that, it must be the regulator or stator, but typically once they've failed, they've failed. There's not much intermittent stuff regarding failures of those.
