have a 96, 70 hp rude,,,,,,is there a way to remove and test a coil? I put a couple of new ones on and wanna check the old ones to see if they're any good.
If your motor is running fine then you know all your coils are fine. Take one of the old coils and install it on any cylinder. If you motor is still running fine then the old coil is fine.
If your motor is running lousy and you suspect a bad coil on a certain cylinder, put one of your new coils on that cylinder. If the motor now runs fine, you know the original coil was bad.
If you use a jumper wire for the ground strap on the coil you don't even have to mount the coil to the engine block.
