is it running to hot

i have a 1998 150 efi,the water pump was put in in oct 2007,the water out of the pee hole is hot at idle so you cant keep your hand there for to long ,if i raise the throttle it then cools off should it be this way ? the overheat alarm does not go off

Hold a thermometer in the stream, you may be surprised at how hot 140 degree water feels.

is that the normal temp it should be. like i said as you raise the idle it does get cooler thank for your reply jf

the higher the throttle, the faster you're pumping new water in. like a car's radiator cools better the faster you go (although different concepts)

Your impellar might be starting to go but still pumping enough water at idle for the thermostat to not trigger the alarm- just a thought
